I read a news account yesterday of 4 men who started a camp fire in a fire restricted area and the fire got away from them and burned out of control.
Much of our state and immediate surrounding states are on fire and there has been an incredible loss of property and even worse, lives, throughout the western states this summer.
I know I'm climbing on my soapbox here, and just for the record, I love dutch oven "anything" and marshmallow roasts, but people who live in the sometimes extremely dry western states have got to be open to alternate ways to cook when they go camping!
What is it that makes people so resistant to change? Or think that the rules are for all the other people but not for them because they know what they are doing!
As Solar chefs, we need to be mindful to educate at every opportunity so people don't assume we are are a bit wacky with a "prepper" fanaticism, an attitude I run into frequently.
Solar cooking really works, is easy, Saves energy and lightens the carbon footprint a little bit, is very convenient in all kinds of scenarios, and is nutritionally advantageous. If you Solar Cook, never be hesitant to share your knowledge and enjoyment. The western states you save may be your own!!!
