Cookies in my solar oven!!

Hey Solar Cats!

I finally got a good day of bright shiny sun! I took the opportunity to set up the oven in my driveway. 15 minutes later it was hot and ready to cook. I decided on something that my boyfriend and I could enjoy, so, I grabbed up some ingredients and whipped up a batch of chocolate chip cookies. Being a 'skinny cook' I had my boyfriend taste test the first cookie. He said they tasted better than oven baked! I had to see for myself and munched a sun baked cookie. Perfect! There is a sense of accomplishment that comes with cooking for free!

Being that I was kind of a skeptic at first, I didn't realize that sucker gets really HOT! while sliding my cookie racks into the oven I lost six cookies due to me burning my knuckle on the inside edge of the oven. Needless to say, lesson learned and I have been wearing oven mitts since!!

More to come! Next I will be trying baby potatoes with bacon bruchetta and melty cheese!! yummmmm!

Good to hear you were able to get some great tasting cookies out of your Sun Oven.
That is the way I have been doing it lately as well, squeezing in my solar cooking in between clouds. We have had a lot of cloudiness here in the desert southwest as well...monsoon season here.
Hope to hear more of your successes.
